The story behind the work
Rod is a lifelong Brampton resident. He grew up here, built his life here, and raised his family here. Coming from a military family, he learned early that service is not a title. It is a responsibility.
Integrity, accountability, discipline, and putting others first have guided every step of the way — from volunteering in the community to serving on City Council.
Before public office, Rod spent more than three decades in the private sector as a Workforce Development and Planning Director, solving complex problems, managing budgets responsibly, and delivering results.
It is the same approach he brings to City Hall: be present, build partnerships, and get things done for the people of Wards 7 and 8.
Building a family in Brampton
Rod met his wife in Brampton. Together they raised three children, all born at Peel Memorial Hospital.
Being a father here taught him what families actually need from a city: healthcare close to home, safe streets, places for kids to play, and strong schools. That list has not changed. It is still his list.
Brampton keeps growing, and progress matters. But growth should never come at the expense of the neighbourly spirit, community pride, and connections that make people feel at home here.
"I have one life and one chance to make it count for something. My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can, with whatever I have, to try to make a difference."

Brampton Bulldogs Association
A proud alumnus, and a Chinguacousy Soccer Club All-Star. Local sport shaped him early.
Bramalea Boxing Club
Where he boxed and won gold at the Provincial Championships. Today, as President of Boxing Ontario, he backs the Brampton Cup.
